The Selection Process is under way!
On behalf of the entire Admissions Team, I would like to thank everyone participating in the 2020 selection process for the next cohort of Schwarzman Scholars. More than 3,000 applications were submitted for the U.S./Global admissions cycle this year. At such a consequential moment in history, we feel inspired by the people interested in this program, and by the strong commitment of so many young leaders to the Schwarzman Scholars’ mission. Thank you for your willingness to contribute to the future of global peace, prosperity, and connectedness!
Here’s the question all Schwarzman Scholars applicants have after pressing Submit: “What now?”
Since the application period is closed, the Admissions Team has turned its full attention to a thorough process of evaluating and selecting the U.S. and Global candidates who will join the Class of 2021-2022. In the Schwarzman Scholars community we are dedicated to the proposition that we don’t admit applications, we admit people who lead. That means each candidate portfolio is read by multiple evaluators who conduct a holistic review of every application to get a sense of each candidate as a whole person. A set of more than 100 diverse and experienced readers from various industries, areas of expertise and all parts of the world participate in the Schwarzman Scholars reading process every year to give us a full and broad evaluation of the entire pool. From there, candidates will be invited to the final stage of the selection process: interviews.
This year, due to the current global pandemic, interviews will be conducted virtually. Selected candidates will be notified by mid-October and will be invited to an individual 25-minute interview with a panel of senior leaders in government, business, academia and the non-profit sector. From this group the 2021-2022 Class of Schwarzman Scholars will be chosen, with a public announcement to come in early December.
We look forward to getting to know our applicants at every stage of this process. The weeks ahead will be busy on the admissions front – in addition to being thrilling and inspiring!
Best regards,
Cordel Faulk
Director of Global Admissions
