Leading in Higher Education
This course examines leadership in relation to institutions of higher education, with a focus on the changing role and position of universities globally from the late nineteenth century to the global future of the twenty-first century. Using personal experience, case studies, and a global perspective, the course will further evaluate the enduring but changing character of educational institutions at a time of diminished prestige but also ever increasing importance given the ubiquity and transformations of the knowledge economy. The course objective is to offer sustained exposure for students to the unique nature of educational institutions, as well as some of the challenges and opportunities related to education as a career in administration, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
