New York and Beijing, April 13, 2020 – Schwarzman Scholars today announced that Cordel Faulk has been appointed Director of Global Admissions at Schwarzman Scholars, a highly selective Master’s program focused on leadership, China and Global Affairs. As Director of Global Admissions, Cordel will work closely with the Admissions teams both in New York and Beijing on the strategy and execution of a highly competitive selection process, designed to identify next-generation leaders who will serve to deepen understanding between China and the rest of the world.

Inspired by the Rhodes scholarship, Schwarzman Scholars is designed to prepare the next generation of leaders for the geopolitical landscape of the 21st Century. The College is preparing to welcome its fifth cohort of Scholars from around the world.

Prior to joining Schwarzman Scholars, Cordel served as Assistant Dean and Chief Admissions Officer at the University of Virginia School of Law. In addition, Cordel was an Advisor to former Virginia Governor L. Douglas Wilder, as well as a part-time columnist for the Richmond Times Dispatch and an Adjunct Professor in the University Honors Program at Virginia Tech. Cordel also served as the Director of Communications, Media, and Research at the Center for Politics. Cordel earned his Bachelor of Arts from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law. He is a member of the Leader’s Network Council for the Ron Brown Scholar Program, a scholarship and leadership program designed to assist young African Americans of outstanding promise and limited means.

They will live in Beijing for a year of study and cultural immersion, attending lectures, traveling, and developing a better understanding of China.
