Katrina Northrop will graduate with honors from Brown University in 2019, where she majors in Development Studies, focusing on China. At Brown, she was the managing editor of the College Hill Independent and a member of an investigative journalism team working on the issue of elder abuse in Rhode Island, which resulted in a series of articles published over nine days on the Providence Journal’s front page. Before her senior year, she worked at the Beijing bureau of the New York Times, conducting research and interviews for reporters as well as publishing her own articles. She is passionate about the role of journalists in cross-cultural dialogue, and hopes to be a foreign correspondent in China. Katrina was the captain of Brown’s Varsity Squash team and is from Brooklyn, New York. Katrina is 21 years old and from the United States.
