Clay Garner graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in East Asian Studies. His thesis investigated historical memory of the Mao period through grassroots Chinese internet forum essays. In 2014, Clay was awarded a Stanford fellowship to research the Taiwanese media environment and shadow journalists at FTV News in Taipei. Clay’s interests include China-Hollywood relations and United States-China cooperation on digital media challenges worldwide. As a Mandarin pop singer-songwriter and TV personality, he has performed on networks such as CCTV and Formosa Television, accumulated millions of online views, and also appeared as a cast member on the Beijing TV program “Beijingke”. Clay is 23 years old and from the United States.
