Program Officer, Alumni Engagement

With a focus on understanding China’s pivotal role in the world, we bring together up to 200 outstanding young minds from the U.S., China, and beyond for a transformative year at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Backed by over $500 million in philanthropic support, our mission is to empower these scholars as vital connectors between China and the global community.
Position Highlight: The Program Officer, Alumni Engagement works cross-functionally in the design, development and execution of events, programs, and initiatives that drive alumni engagement. Reporting to the Director of Alumni Engagement, this position combines event management, volunteer leadership, communications, and relationship-building to strengthen geopolitical knowledge, the network, and leadership capacity of alumni. The position serves as a strategic and operational partner to the Director and plays a key part in planning and executing comprehensive engagement strategies and initiatives that align with the mission and long-term goals.
About The Organization
Schwarzman Scholars is a fully-funded, one-year master’s degree program in global affairs at Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. An unparalleled learning experience, it is the first scholarship of its kind created to respond to the geopolitical landscape
of the 21st century and designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders.
Each year, around 150 candidates from around the world are selected to join a diverse cohort.
Schwarzman Scholars seeks candidates with leadership qualities and the potential to foster crosscultural understanding. Scholars come from a wide variety of industries and backgrounds, such as business, technology, politics, healthcare, and more.
Schwarzman Scholars’ dynamic curriculum–based on the pillars of China, leadership, and global affairs–is designed to provide Scholars with the knowledge, skills, and firsthand experience needed to navigate the complexities of the evolving global landscape. Through an immersive
experience in China, Scholars spend a year living in Beijing, studying at the prestigious Tsinghua University under the guidance of leading academics and global thought leaders.
Schwarzman Scholars was established in 2013 by Founding Trustee Stephen A. Schwarzman and Tsinghua University. Schwarzman Scholars aspires to create a global network of leaders who will shape the future.
Major Responsibilities
- Program Development: Initiate, develop and execute a dynamic array of professional development learning programs and resources.
- Instructional Design and Delivery: Create and teach/facilitate engaging learning activities, blended learning experiences, and multimedia presentations, utilizing appropriate educational technology tools, pedagogical strategies, and assessment methods.
- Community Engagement: Collaborate and consult with alumni, staff, and faculty to address emerging trends and alumni needs; promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Build and maintain relationships with alumni, program partners and teams (internal and external)
- Cross-Collaboration: Collaborate across global, multicultural teams to create meaningful alumni engagement opportunities in academics, careers, and community initiatives.
- Program Assessment/Tracking: Analyze metrics and leverage data to inform decision-making. Assess, refine and implement business process for any necessary technology platforms

Qualifications:
- Experience in alumni relations, volunteer management, event planning, or related field.
- Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field or equivalent.
- Strong work ethic, demonstrated professionalism, and a track record of establishing positive relationships especially in multi-cultural environments/context, exercising excellent judgment, diplomacy and discretion.
- Capacity to work with alumni, board, staff, university leadership, consultants, and volunteers in a dynamic, results-oriented manner.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally on at least a quarterly basis.
- Excellent planning, organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to design, develop, and deliver new alumni programs and plan, promote and execute complex programs/event.
- Deep understanding of adult learning theories/principles, instructional design principles, experience design and assessment strategies.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), educational technology platforms and project management systems.
- Comfort with and experience in delivering to myriad cultures and traveling to international destinations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- International experience and additional language skills are preferred.
