Roy Segal graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Columbia University with a double major in Economics and East Asian Studies, having completed his undergraduate degree in three years. During his time at Columbia, Roy served as the Israeli co-president of the China-Israel Connection, a student-led organization that aims to strengthen Sino-Israeli relations on campus and provides devoted, promising students with internship opportunities in Tel Aviv, Beijing, Shanghai, and New York City. Roy also studied abroad with Columbia Summer Program in Beijing, China to hone his Chinese language ability, and with Harvard Summer Program in Kyoto, Japan and Korean University International Summer Campus in Seoul, South Korea to deepen his understanding of East Asia. Before moving to New York City, he served in Unit 8200 of the Israeli Defense Forces Intelligence Corps. Roy is 25 years old and is from Israel.
