Heba Kassem, Harvard Class of 2017, studied Economics with a secondary field in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. Her academic interests span sociopolitical crises in the Middle East and economic development in Asia. Heba has worked in disaster relief management and education with One Foundation in Shanghai and Maru-a-Pula in Gaborone, respectively. Moved by the plight of the international refugee crisis, she is spending her postgraduate year working with NGOs in Greece and Turkey on Harvard’s Pforzheimer Public Service Fellowship. She hopes to continue studying economics and international policy at Schwarzman College. Heba is half-Egyptian and half-Chinese. She speaks Arabic, Chinese, English, and French. Heba is 23 years old and from Egypt.
