With the year now underway, we are excited to share insights from the Scholars in their own words.

Alexander Springer majored in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His vision is to create medical technologies for the developing world by empowering individuals in community innovation centers. He has developed several medical technology products including a voice controlled wheelchair for multiple sclerosis patients, an anemia diagnostic device for rural Nicaraguan healthcare clinic workers, and an allergen detector for people with food allergies. Through Schwarzman Scholars, Alex hopes to cultivate his leadership potential and build lasting partnerships with international businesses to develop global health technologies. Alex is 21 years old and from the United States of America.
