Investing in Private Markets

This course introduces students to major private capital markets, theories and practices of investing in private assets such as private equity, real estate and infrastructure.

Students will acquire a deep understanding of how private markets operate, the key players (e.g., GPs and LPs) and their business models, market dynamics and main investment strategies from venture capital investing to large buy-outs to capture such market dynamics and opportunities

In addition to market dynamics and investment strategies, this course will also cover micro-level of asset selection and value creation as well as macro-level asset class cycle analysis. The course will end with an extensive discussion of technological disruptions such as renewable energy, autonomous vehicle, and artificial intelligence, from the perspective of both risks and investment opportunities.
